The CNMC has initiated public consultations on two wholesale markets. With the change in government and administration in the country in June 2018, the CNMC is now attached to the Ministry of Economy and Enterprise (MINECO).


  • The Spanish government approved a temporary measure that allows the Spanish Data Protection Act to co-exist with the GDPR, until the contradictions between the GDPR and the Spanish Data Protection Act are settled.
  • In 2018, the CNMC initiated a review of two wholesale markets: the wholesale market for broadcasting signals and the wholesale market for terminating voice calls on individual fixed networks.
  • In March 2018, the Spanish government announced an ambitious plan to deploy a fiber broadband network of 300Mbps speed across the nation by 2021.
